هذا وصف مبسط من احد المحررين المتابعين للأسلحة الروسية المصدرة
The Russians have been known to produce multiple variants of a single weapon system. Export models, command models, amphibious models, advanced domestic models, etc. etc. etc. This is reflected in the letters followed after the weapon system. For example T-90E were export models with slower engines and without the advanced protection capabilities and fire control system. It is important to note this as some of the "monkey models" given to Middle Eastern, African, and Asian markets were of inferior stock than that seen in service with the Russian military and may have had a negative representation in the media. For example T-72 export editions lacked the advanced ammunition, fire control systems, and explosive reactive armor that may allow it withstand contact against a powerful Abrams (as seen by the ease in which M1A2 Abrams engaged simple export model T-72's in Iraq). The T-90 is an adopted T-72B chassis with T-80U features and a host of defensive features and electronic modernization
